Reducing energy costs
Your Mac computers cost you money to keep running night and day. Even when asleep the computer is using electricity. Power Manager is designed to reduce this running cost.
During the day your business computers are in use and productive. What about during the evening, night, and early morning; are your computers left on in sleep mode?
It is common for workplace computers to never be turned off.
When a computer falls idle the built in Energy Saving software should take effect to dim the screen and reduce energy hungry components. This is a great start and your company probably already has a policy in place to ensure these savings.
It is at this point Power Manager starts and the default Energy Saving software stops.
Sleep is good, shut down is better
It is common to assume a computer requires little electricity when sleeping and no electricity when shut down. As with all assumptions there is more than a twist of nuance to the foundation of this belief.
Off-mode is when the computer has been shut down. Off-mode still uses energy but far less than sleep; just enough to keep the internal clock ticking.
The next step to reducing running costs is to change as much of the computer's sleep time into periods of off-mode time.

You can use Power Manager to create a schedule suited your business hours. A schedule can easily shut down all the computers in the evening, and switch them back on ready for the next morning.

Use Power Manager to improve security

Many computer users leave their computer unattended for long periods of time. Often the computer is left logged in and susceptible to tampering, intrusion, and accidents.
You can create a special inactivity event in your Power Manager schedule. After a period of inactivity you can automatically trigger a fast user switch.
Why not put the computer to sleep or lock the screen? By fast user switching you leave all the programs running in the background. You also benefit from others being able to use the computer in a shared environment.
