DssW Activity Audit - New Tool for Journaling Your Application Use on Mac OS X

UK, Europe - 29 March, 2011 - DssW, the leading developer of Mac energy saving software, today released Activity Audit for Mac OS X. Activity Audit creates a journal of the applications used on a Mac.

Activity Audit creates calendar events as applications are launched and quit. These events create a complete audit trail showing users the applications they were using and when. The resulting calendar provides an intuitive visual insight into how a user’s Mac has been used.

“Activity Audit helps our customers see where their time is being spent. After only a short time, the personal journal can reveal fascinating insights into your working patterns.” said Graham Miln, Director. “Our aim is to help our customers better understand how they use their Mac and to highlight where energy could be saved.”

Activity Audit works with Mac OS X’s built-in calendaring support. The audit calendar is visible to iCal and other calendaring software. Activity Audit can create a new calendar to store events, or the user can specify an existing calendar.

Once started, the auditing process runs in the background and does not require Activity Audit to be left running. The audit is restricted to the user who started the process, and that user can opt to exclude specific applications or entire folders of applications. By default, Activity Audit excludes applications located in the System and Library folders.
