Best way to extend powerbook on long plane trip?

I will be travelling from Vancouver to Germany non-stop, about 10 hours. I have a Mac Powerbook G4. What are the best options for having the "juice" to work a lot of that time? I can always buy a second battery but expect there are other possibilities.

Well, sure. Just do the usual Energy Saver things. Turn the backlighting down, use slower CPU speed if your computer allows it, and let the hard drive spin down and don't do anything that hits it. m.

Check if the airline allows you to plug in some sort of power-adapter, and what kind of adapter is needed.

However, this adapter still requires you have a 12volt converter to plug your laptop into, I have the iJuice system.
Last I heard the EmPower outlet was a first-class feature, and if the jack is even there it may not be turned on.

You may want to check with your airline to see if they offer power outlets for laptops; many do. You'll need a special adapter, but it should be a *lot* cheaper than an extra battery.

In my own experience, unless you regularly travel in business or first class, don't expect to be able to use your 12 volt converter. It's even plane dependent in the same airline whether or not that option is available in your seat.
An extra battery is the way to go. If I have to do it again (I changed job in 2004, no longer need to travel much), I would buy a non-powerbook battery. Instead, I would pay for those external units. That way, if I upgrade to a different laptop, I can still use the battery.
