Charge light on unibody MacBook

  1. Sigh. Okay, thanks. The only plus is the local guys didn't give me any grief when this happened with my PowerBook years ago, so hopefully they're still nice about it.

I don't know about your local guys, of course, but here in Jacksonville they swap out chargers, mice and keyboards just like that.

  2. Pardon a stupid question, but is it normal for the light on the MacBook magsafe connector to go out completely out from time to time? I'm assuming not, and I should take my charger in to get it replaced, but I thought I'd check first.

    It's not normal.

I had that happen too on the charger for my MacBook which is about a year and a half old. The light going out did not seem to hurt anything, so I lived with it for many months before finally taking it in. The tech said it was defective and it was replaced.

When I had that happen on an Apple laptop, Apple serviced it. They replaced whatever it is inside that the magsafe connector connects to. I'm thinking they called it the "DC logic board".

I should also mention, that in my case swapping out the power adapter did not correct the issue.
