Hi,
hope this is the right group to ask.
My eMac (G4,1.25Mhz,750MB RAM) will go into sleep mode but when I press a button on the keyboard the CRT will sound like a degauss and the power is off.
Pressing the power button will not boot until I unplug the power cord , wait 10-20 sec and reinsert it.
I tried to google but could not find anything (maybe googled the wrong keyword)
Could it be a problem with the pram battery? Power Unit? else?
Hope someone has seen this effect an can tell me what to do.
Thanks,
Wolfgang

Yep it is.
Take a look at your system log. It should give you clues as to what is causing the problem. If you want, i can take a look at it for you:
Viewing Crash, Console, and System Logs
1. Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.
2. From the Console menu bar, select File > View System Log.
3. From the Console menu bar, select File > View Console Log.
The system log will usually give you an indication as to what is causing startup issues. The console log can show issues you experience after you are logged into your user account.
If a particular application is crashing, you may find a crash log in /Users/you/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ for that application.
(Feel free to send the logs to jolly roger at pobox dot com if you need help understanding them. I'll be glad to take a look and tell you what I see. Let me know if you do this so that I can be sure your email doesn't get eaten by pobox.com's aggressive SPAM filter.)

JR,
thanks for the info.
I will have a look at the log files.
In case they are to cryptical to me I will send you a heads up note and the files.
Just a question in advance.
How can the Mac file a log entry if he is in sleep mode and dies with a power outage ?
Just to make it clear. The Mac is in sleep mode, I touch a key on the keyboard or I click the mouse to wake it and the Mac dies instantaneously.

Okay sounds good.
It's likely messing up on wake, which means there may be stuff logged on the event in the system log.
