    Hi All,

    I have a friend who was given an iPod mini a few weeks back. It appears the battery is probably on its way out as he can only get to the menu screen before it shuts off.

    So...

    How easy is it to replace the battery, or is it best left to an apple dealer / reseller to do the job.?

    Being that it was a freebie, he doesn't mind spending money on a battery.

    Mate , I have had HEAPS of probs with my apple video with the same issue.
    I looked into it. Best thing to do is to take it back to Apple and have it completely replaced ( insist on this its your right )
    If all elese fails, take it to where you bought it and insist on a refund ( i was told i couldnt get one, but knew the laws and insistsed and got my moiney bak )
    DONT DO IT YOURSELF AS YOU WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY IF YOU OPEN THE CASE !

    Seeing as he was given it as a gift, it's probably PRETTY OLD, and way past its 12 month warranty.

    Buy an online kit for around $40 and replace it yourself.

    Apple charge $90.

    Maybe I can convince him to give it to me, after all, he was also given a new 60m Gb video iPod for his birthday : )
    I don't mind having a crack at replacing the battery.
