1. My lombard battery seems to have died. Basically, when it claims to be fully charged, it won't last much longer than 20 minutes. I recall a battery utility that came with older system software- I can't remember if it was with 8.6 or even further back though. Is there anything worth trying, or at 5 years old, has the battery just had it? It certainly doesn't seem cost effective to get a new one- and I no longer take the powerbook on the road.

  2. I'd say your battery is shot. They have a limited cycle life, as well as degrading with age. Five years is plenty on its own, even if you never cycled the battery, and I suspect you did that plenty as well.
