1. Frequently, when my MacBook Pro is fully charged, the green light on the plug goes out. Re-plugging turns it back on, but why does it go off? Help says it should either be amber or green. Could one of the connectors be oxidized and should I worry about this?

  2. I just realized I should probably have posted to the portable group as well or maybe even instead.

  3. Reset the SMC.

  4. I typed "reset SMC" and just "SMC" into OS X Help and got back

    No pages with your search words were found

    I then "googled" "reset SMC" and got a reference to an Apple Support Article. Interesting.

  5. <verbose>
    For an Intel Mac portable:
    - remove AC adapter (and other cables)
    - remove battery
    - with _no_ power source attached, hold the power button for 5 seconds - restore battery & AC adapter

    This is the cure for many power & sleep issues. It may also resolve "missing" hardware problems (e.g. the system doesn't think it has an Airport card or firewire port).
    </verbose>

  6. I'm having the same problem, but it happens when I move the cable while charing. I guess it's some kind of wiring problem, but it charges fine.

  8. For what it's worth, the green light on my MBP's charger stopped working in 2006, soon after I got the computer. I guess it was under warranty but it worked fine, so I didn't bother getting it replaced. It still works, so unless there are other symptoms it's probably not significant.
