PB 5300 ASLEEP FOR 3 YEARS!

   MY Brother was a terrible alcoholic until 6 months or so ago when he decided to dry out.

   Now he has a job where he needs email. He called me for assistance, as before I left for the Netherlands, I set a working computer and printer down on a table at his house where it, as I predicted, collected dust for three years. Except that it had remained plugged in and in sleep mode.

   He called me, opened the computer, and the only thing needing adjustment was the dial-up number for earthlink.

   It even attempted to make a connection to the old number, taking the appropriate route via remote access/PPP and a pcmcia card modem no less, giving the appropriate error messages.

   One change of the phone number (which was a stretch for me to remember where in sys 8.6 one did this), and it connected and loaded a home page!

   Hooray for this PB 5300.
