Pismo problem- sound/AC card, etc

I have a Pismo PB, the problem that started it off was a faulty AC connector on the sound card. Well, the connector was fine actually, it just broke off 2 of the 3 contacts. I find this is not an uncommon occurance. So, using the pbfixit.com step by step guide, I took the system apart and resoldered the contacts in place. For a little more support to keep it from breaking off again, I epoxied the bottom of the jack module in place. Let that dry and put everything back in order. Plug it back in, press the power button- nothing. Well, I was reasonably sure that I had the sound card part right, so I went as far as the CPU and discovered I didn't seat that down enough. That taken care of and back together, still, no power up. I am sure the system is getting power as the battery, which went completely dead, had it's indicator lights pop on. So, with all that in mind, I thought, perhaps I did not reseat something else. So, I stripped everything back off again, taking care to make sure each cable and plug was connected properly and snugly when I put it back together. Ok, plugged in, battery powering up, bottom slightly warm- there is juice flowing.
Still- the power button is unresponsive.
Can anyone think of anything else that might be amiss? Are the contacts for the power button easily damaged? I was pretty careful working on this thing, I'm just out of ideas at this point.
Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to read that and post anything.

It's a losing battle, send your Pismo to a place like daystar/xlrate - Gary Daily - they will fix it, and upgrade it as much as you like. I've taked a soldering iron and fixed pismo power connectors about 100 times - 95% of the time,
it broke within a month again. Get a replacement one! -

Thanks, and yes, I am aware I can get a replacement power connector or even have others do the work, but as this is a spare laptop, the cost involved does not justify the price for me, and that's not what I was asking for anyway. I have power getting to the battery. I was asking for other technical advice. If it comes to it, I'll just buy the board and drop it in and see if it works, if not, it's not a big deal.
Thanks.
