1. Someone gave me a 6500/225 so I thought I'd fix it up to give to a very poor student I know. Getting the date/time gremlins, I pulled out the board to check out the battery. Never saw one like it. A big black cubeish thing, roughly 1" square, says Rayovac 840, 4.5 Volts, and seems to held in place with velcro(!) Could this be the wrong battery? I don't even know where to get one.

    Thanks,
    MK

  2. Common battery for that time period. Rat Shack used to carry them.

  3. It is the correct battery.
Available for $7.99 from OWC and other Mac online retailers. http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Ray%2DO%2DVac/MAC45V/

Rayovac 841 or 844 are also ok as replacements for the 840.

Thanks! Half the price of S***-Shack. It was the velcro attachment that really threw me. (I wonder if the new one will come with its own, or if I'll heve to make a trip to the ladies' sewing store.) :)

  5. It's standard for those batteries.
