Power Manager 5.15.0 Released

We are pleased to announce the launch of Power Manager 5.15. This update adds a cron based trigger and await action, and a few small quality of life improvements.

Power Manager 5.15 introduces cron support conforming to the new Open Cron Pattern Specification (OCPS). Power Manager conforms to the final OCPS Baseline 1.0, and the draft OCPS Increments 1.1, 1.2, and 1.4¹.

We believe Power Manager is the first commercial product to be based on the new Open Cron Pattern Specification specification.

Traditionally we have opted not to replicate functionality built into the operating system. This included avoiding duplicating cron, at, and launchd like scheduling approaches.

Given changes in the operating system’s direction, now is an appropriate time to change our approach. By offering a cron based trigger and await action, Power Manager becomes a more complete self contained solution. By using Power Manager, you benefit from consistent behaviour and interfaces across a wide range of operating system versions.

In addition to the new trigger and action, this update includes a few small user interface improvements. Headings for empty groups are now shown in the macOS application’s Scheduler view. This better delineates the Scheduler view compared to the Event Store view.

Updating Power Manager

Power Manager will automatically check for updates every so often, so there is nothing to do. The update will automatically be offered to you during the next few weeks.

If you want to update to the latest Power Manager now, use the Check for Updates menu item in the Power Manager menu. In case of problems, please follow the manual update steps.
