Sandbox Limitations

Modern operating systems implement sandboxing to increase security. The additional security is welcome but comes at a price. This additional security can affect automation tools and scripting.

Power Manager’s application and assisting user interface are sandboxed. The Scheduler runs as a computer wide process and is not sandboxed.

After installing the Scheduler, Power Manager does not require additional permissions to work.

Additional Permissions

When you run an event via Power Manager, you may be asked by the operating system for additional permissions. Any additional permissions are being requested by scripts or tools being launched by Power Manager, and not by Power Manager itself.

Be wary of allowing additional permissions until you understand their origin and necessity.

Deprecated Tasks

We have previously included Schedule Assistant tasks that used AppleScripts to control QuickTime Player and other common applications on macOS. These tasks have been deprecated because they can required additional permissions. We advise against using these tasks to create new events.
