I'm no guru, but: Rio Forge. Uses a single AAA battery; I use a NiMH battery and get ~15-20 hrs of playing time on a charge. 500MB versions almost always available on eBay. Can add up to 1GB additional memory with SD card.

i know and i did there is none yet like rio forge which need an usb cable to connect i want one without though i hate to have one more piece of cable lying around anyway thanks for dcom's input afterall this is a MAC forum and i apologize for inadvertently posting msg here
