I just got a beige desktop g3 (266mhz, 640mb ram, 4gb & 6gb internal hd)) ... rev b I believe... anyway, when putting this computer to sleep, is it normal for the fan to still be on? something is still on, and I think it's the fan... anyway... putting my g4 to sleep is like turning it off... no sound at all... any input would be appreciated...

thanks brad

That's the way my beige G3 always worked. I don't know if it's normal or not, but it would do this every time.

Brad,

In the Energy Saver control panel, under the Sleep Setup tab, have clicked on the "Show Details" button, and if so, have you selected the "Separte timing for hard disk sleep"? Also it's possible that the second hard disk is not being controlled by the Energy Saver controll panel.

There is a well-known sleep problem with beige G3s. Some sleep and some don't. I have a G3/300 that sleeps fine (no sound, disk spins down, light on front flashes about 1x/sec), but my G3/233 does not do to sleep (fan stays on etc.).
