Date & time incorrect even with new battery

Message #1 - Posted 2001/12/23 - Michael J. Bushey

My system is as follows:

Machine ID: 406
Model name: Power Mac G4 (AGP graphics)
Keyboard type: Apple USB Keyboard
Grappler SCSI PCI cards in slots:
Processor info: PowerPC G4
Machine speed: 400 MHz
Ram 256 mb
System 9.2.2

I just changed my pram battery because date and time won't stay set. This is now happening even with the new battery (24 hours old). Polarity of new battery is correct.

What does this mean?

One possibility: Maybe the *new* battery isn't that new (like maybe it sat in the store past its expiration date).
