G4 Power Book - 1.g Ghz - Battery life?

Message #1 - Posted 2004/11/22 - Tom

Hi

G4 15inch power book
1.5 Ghz
512Meg RAM

Getting the battery to last about 2 hours max at the moment - Just running normal desktop type stuff - nothing I/O or CPU intensive.

Anyone know if i should be getting better battery life than that? Its about 7 months old so i don't think the battery should be suffering yet.

thanks

Depends on what you're doing. Is the screen at max brightness? If so, turn it down some. Do you have AirPort and/or BlueTooth enabled? Disable them. (A custom location named something like "Battery Saver" helps with this, so you can turn them back on easily when necessary.) Do you have the Processor Performance setting in the Energy Saver settings set to Highest? If you're not doing anything CPU intensive, you can set it to Reduced to save power.

My 10 month old 1GHz 12 inch AlBook is giving me less than half an hour per charge. Sounds like your battery is going too.
