G4 won't wake from sleep - 9.1

Message #1 - Posted 2001/01/30 - Phill

Hi
I've recently installed 9.1 on my G4 450 and it won't wake from sleep. The light stops 'breathing' and is lit but nothing else happens. Any ideas?
Thanks
Phill

I have the same problem on my DP450 G4 running OS 9.0.4 and have posted previously to this NG. Also, sometimes I can't restart by pushing the interrupt button. When the interrupt button wonk't effect a restart, pushing the non-flashing power button does nothing. Only pulling the power cord will restart my G4. Others have posted with the same symptoms. I was hoping that this no-wakeup-from-sleep problem would go away with a 9.0.4 -> 9.1 upgrade. I guess not.

I had a similar situation. I ran the Apple Hardware Test CD and it said I had a RAM problem. ( I had installed an extra 128MB). I pulled the card and replugged it back in and now it passes the test and wakes from sleep (so far).

Interestingly, the machine recognized the RAM even tho the test failed it.

My Beige Desktop G3 also does this with 9.1. I pushed every key and key combination I could think of. Nothing wakes it up except a reboot. Let me know if you find a way to wake it up. I'll just turn off sleep mode for now.
