iMac PRAM batteries

Are these known to eat them? I've just ordered my second one in three years.

The old 5200 I got in 1994 is still on its original.

Yes, if you don't keep them plugged in and/or you haven't applied all the firware updates.

Yes, if you don't keep them plugged in and/or you haven't applied all the firware updates.

I do both. It only went unplugged for a few days while we moved, and it keeps resetting the date to 1970 - nothing else resets though!
