iPOD Capacity

Seems somewhat overkill to have 3Gb set aside for system s/w etc. etc. so I'm sure something's wrong.

Hi there,

I've recently purchased a 30Gb iPOD and very happy I am too, except for something that happened yesterday. Whilst listening to music I noticed it was getting very low on battery, so I grabbed the charger, plugged into the mains and forgot about it.

It was only when I plugged it back into it's dock that panic set-in. The disk first aid app. Popped up stating it didn't recognised the attached disk and wanted to know if it needed initialising. I kicked-up iPOD updater and decided that I'd reset, as syncing doesn't take too long anyway. This seemed to work fine, however I've now noticed that after reset there's only approx. 27Gb free. I'm sure this wasn't the case when I first started to use it, in fact I'm sure that there was actually 27Gb or so free before it went bump. Seems somewhat overkill to have 3Gb set aside for system s/w etc. etc. so I'm sure something's wrong.

Before I start to hassle the place I bought it from, has anyone else come across anything similar.

Thanks,

I'm sure my new 30Gb showed 27.x Gb free before I'd put anything onto it.
