Password for wake from sleep/screensaver

Is it possible to have the system ask for a wake from sleep password, but not for wake from screensaver?

I've looked into this and had no luck. If you find a solution, please let me know.

I also tried to find something slightly different, which was to only ask for a password when asleep / on screensaver for a specific amount of time, but again I had no luck.

Time for obvious and probably foolish suggestions - is there a way to set the machine to log out when it sleeps?

That wouldn't be any good - any open document would scupper that plan, not to mention its being a wretched nuisance to have to reopen all your applications every time.

I was after something like this a year or more ago...

I didn't look too closely, so don't know if these have the functionality you want, but SecureSleep or SleepTight may be useful, but a quick look on VT shows they might be only for 10.2/10.3...
