I just would like to know if some pismo owner using it mainly under Panther has succeeded to keep more than three hours his machine living with its battery. Has someone bought a new battery and succeeded to use the pismo for a long time under os X Panther ?

Good and bad experiences needed please. Thanks in advance.

One nice thing about a Pismo is that you can put two batteries in it. So even if you're only getting three hours you can double it instantly! m.

Pismo 400MHz, 384MB RAM, 20GB HD, OS X 10.3.2. My new (this fall) BTI Battery gives me maybe 4hrs or so with AirPort turned off. My original battery gives me 1 hour or so, which was the cause of my purchasing the new battery. Moving from OS X 10.2 to 10.3 made my battery last longer, though how much is a bit unclear, as I switched batteries only shortly before then.

I replaced a dead battery with one from NewerTech. They advertise %25 more life, but it seems much better than that.

With one original battery plus the new one installed, running Panther and Airport on my Pismo 500, I get 5+ hours.

In fact they advertised 35% and more !

I received yesterday the NewerTech 6600 mAh battery, I now can have more than 4 hours of autonomy with this new battery. Trying to put the old one in the right bay gave me 10h of autonomy !!!!!!!! I thought I was dreaming because this old problematic battery only gave me 2 hours .... But it seems the battery time calculator incorporated in Panther is pure fantasy .... sometimes it gives a number sometimes another one .... Well, I feel better now it seems the Pismo is OK and also is the powermanager .... I will be able to work again. Thanks for the advices I received from you all.
