Powerbook battery only charges to 96%

Message #1 - Posted 2003/11/22 - Nic P

Any ideas as to why this is happening? Only started ever since my PB was returned from replacing the power board, logic board and hard drive, an of course the Panther upgrade.

I have tried recalibrating the battery but this has not fixed the problem.

ANY ideas would be welcome.

Thnks
Nic

I seem to recall this is the new, intended behaviour to prevent overcharging of the battery.

Somewhere on the apple site knowledge base it references this behaviour.

I THINK the test is to charge to 96% or whatever, then run it all the way down and then charge it up. It should under THOSE circumstances charge the full way (from what I can remember).
