question on bios battery, by a mac newbie

Message #1 - Posted 2004/02/12 - Timothy Law

howdy guys, I'm new at Macs

I bought a 3.6v battery for my powermac 8600
But how do I find out(not with a voltmeter) from the mac that it's a working battery...coz it seems to be no diff from the old used-up battery which i was told by a buddy who gave the machine to me.

Thanks

I'm not really sure what you are after .. put it in .. boot the Mac .. if it boots and remembers the date and time between shutdowns then it's working.
