replacing iMac clock battery

Message #1 - Posted 2004/05/27 - Fraser

I also need to to replace the battery in my friend's iMac since the clock reverts to 12.00am 1904 whenever the power is switched off. Is there a website with instructions on how to "crack" the iMacs case open without destroying it? :)

You don't sat which model it is, but you can open the little access window on the bottom and carefully remove and replace the battery.

It depends on the iMac.

Isn't she getting a bit long in the tooth?

Either way, there should be detailed instructions on Apple's site on how to replace batteries, upgrade RAM, etc, for all models.

You can download and print pdfs and a few also have quicktime movies that show you how to install these things. Everything is from the beginning, including how to open the case.

Well, then she's probably due for a battery change.
