I was wondering whether I can adjust the time before hard disks are put to sleep by the OS.
And also if it can be set differently for internal and external HDs.
Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

The pmset command (via the Terminal) can adjust this.

Not as far as I can see, it looks like a global setting.
