TiBook battery

Message #1 - Posted 2004/10/31 - Tony Hall

Hello,

Well after 3 years faithful service the battery in my TiBook is virtually dead (the decline was very quick and it will no doubt soon RIP).

My dilemma is: do I buy a bog standard replacement from Apple (55.3 Watt-Hour) for £99, or import an uber-battery (Newer Technology 71 Watt-Hour) from OWC?...

...which will cost around £97 (inc shipping) but will no doubt incur Duty and VAT charges as well (how much would that add up to)?

Anyone have any experience of these high capacity batteries?

Anyone have any experience with OWC (Other World Computing)?

Any significantly cheaper sources of new PowerBook batteries?

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Cheers,
Tony

Bottom posting although I hate it...

Tony,

Bought ones of these about two months ago:

It's not a high capacity battery but it's as good as Apple's and the price is good. Came well packed and promptly, still charging to 4200 mAh.

PS I am in no way connected with the company - I just hate paying over the odds for batteries.
