Where to buy new battery for Pismo?

Are we better off buying a third-party replacement battery or one of the sealed orginal Apple batteries that sometimes show up on eBay.

Hello,

I wonder if anyone here has an expert opinion on the best source for new batteries for a Pismo (or Lombard)? Are we better off buying a third-party replacement battery or one of the sealed orginal Apple batteries that sometimes show up on eBay.

Any informed opinion will be gratefully received.

I just (as in within the week) purchased a Lombard battery from LaptopsForLess.com with a 1 year warranty. Watch out with older batteries even if they have never been used. As I understand it, LiIon batteries have a limited shelf life even if they are not used.

I recently bought a replacement battery for a Wallstreet from an eBay vendor in the US. Even with the extra costs for shipping and import duty, it worked out much cheaper than buying anywhere in the UK. I think I paid about £60.

I can't remember the company's name, but all they sell is batteries.

Thanks for all the advice on this - especially for the warning about shelf-life and the pointer to the NewerTech site. I bought one there, and am glad to have a first-hand report.
